Oral Surgery

No one likes having teeth pulled but that doesn't mean it has to be a traumatic experience.

Why do I need a tooth extraction?

Sometimes a tooth can be in a state where no amount of technique, skill or wizardry can save it, and removing the tooth is the best option to relieve your pain. Other times they need to be extracted for cosmetic purposes, periodontal conditions, to make space for orthodontics or a variety of reasons. Regardless of the cause, at Old Hook Dental, we go out of our way to make you as comfortable, relaxed and at ease as possible.

What can we do to help?

Getting an extraction can be a nerve wracking thought for most patients. If you cringe at the thought of having an extraction, talk to us about it. We can discuss the procedure with you, walk you through it and discuss options like Nitrous Oxide sedation that can help make the procedure a breeze. Also, we offer a full range of restorative options from bridges, implants and dentures to beautifully put your smile back to a healthy state once the extraction has been performed.

If you've recently had a dental extraction done at Old Hook Dental, please see our post-op care sheet for more information on a speedy, complication free recovery.

Misc. Oral Surgery Procedures

Laser Operculectomy : What the heck is that? We don't know, but it sounds pretty cool. Just kidding. In fact, its the opposite of cool - An Operculitis (Aka Pericoronitis) is caused by a tooth that is usually not fully erupted into the mouth and is partially covered by gum tissue; the resulting tissue can become a food and bacteria trap that can cause frequent infections and severe pain in the area. This tissue is essentially "chewed" by the patient causing further trauma and pain. As it swells the cycle of trauma continues. Simply removing the tissue provides great, immediate pain relief, plus, it can be virtually painless when performed with our laser. This procedure is also performed as a precaution to prevent operculitis usually on erupting wisdom teeth.
